EVANSVILLE, Ind.- The #4 UIndy women's tennis team closed out a complete shutout run through the 2019 Great Lakes Valley Conference schedule with a 7-0 sweep of Southern Indiana Saturday.
The Greyhounds (18-0, 5-0 GLVC) blanked their opponents in all five GLVC matches on the season, making for six straight matches in which UIndy has not allowed a point by its opponent.Â
All three UIndy doubles squads took 6-0 wins, with the duo of
Hanna Volikova and
Alina Kislitskaya taking the first Greyound victory.
Maja Pindelska and
Chloe Weihs locked up the doubles point with a win at three doubles, while the #5 pair of
Nikol Alexeeva and
Anya Novikova wrapped up the doubles shutout in the one spot.
In the six singles matches, the Greyhounds surrendered just five total games on the day. Alexeeva was the first to finish, posting a 6-0, 6-0 shutout at two singles. Pindelska won 6-1, 6-0 at four singles, with Novikova clinching the win with a 6-0, 6-0 win at three singles.
Weihs also posted a shutout, 6-0, 6-0 at six singles, while Kislitskaya won 6-1, 6-1 in the five singles slot. Volikova wrapped up the 7-0 shutout with a 6-1, 6-1 win at one singles.
The Greyhounds take the GLVC East Division crown for the third season in a row into the 2019 GLVC Tennis Championships next weekend at Center Grove High School and Middle School.Â
