INDIANAPOLIS- Top-seeded UIndy Women's Tennis swept #4W Rockhurst to open the 2019 GLVC Women's Tennis Championships Friday morning, running the Greyhound's perfect record to 19-0 on the season.
UIndy, ranked #6 in NCAA Division II, took the doubles point in just more than 20 minutes to start the quarterfinal match. The two doubles squad of
Hanna Volikova and
Alina Kislitskaya won 6-0, followed by a 6-1 win from the #5-ranked duo of Nikol Aleexeva and
Anya Novikova at one doubles to notch the doubles point for the Hounds.
Volikova, Aleexeva and Novikova then closed out the win on the singles court in just more than an additional hour. Volikova, currently ranked #17 in NCAA DII, was first off at one singles with a 6-1, 6-1 win to run the team score to 2-0 UIndy. Novi then claimed the third Greyhound team point with a 6-0, 6-1 win at three doubles, allowing Aleexeva to clinch to match at 4-0 UIndy with a 6-2, 6-2 win at two singles.
With the win, the Greyhounds advance to play the winner of Maryville and Illiinois Springfield in Saturday morning's 9 a.m. semifinal at the UIndy Tennis Center.
