Greyhounds close out 6th straight undefeated GLVC regular season

EVANSVILLE, Ind.- The #20 Greyhound men's tennis team completed its sixth-straight sweep of the GLVC East Division with a 7-0 win at Southern Indiana to close out the regular season Saturday.

UIndy has not lost a GLVC match since exactly six years ago today to these very same Screaming Eagles. Since that loss, the Greyhounds have gone 34-0 in league matches and claimed six straight GLVC East Division titles.

Nils Hoffacker and Max Witthaus were the first to win, taking a 6-2 win at three doubles. Renato Lima and Magnus Mueller clinched the doubles point for UIndy with a 6-1 win at two doubles, with the #17 pair of Dario Huber and Matej Kostadinov closing out the trio of doubles wins with a 6-1 win at one doubles.

Ariel Farji was the first singles win for UIndy, taking a 6-0, 6-0 win at six singles, with Lima the next to win at one singles with a 6-2, 6-0 win. Hoffacker took a 6-0, 6-1 win in the two singles spot to represent the winning Greyhound point.

Mueller won in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-8) at four singles, while Witthaus took a 7-5, 6-4 win in the five singles spot. Huber closed out the 7-0 sweep with a 6-4, 7-6 (9-7) win at two singles.

The Greyhounds will take their sixth consecutive #1 seed from the East into next weekend's 2019 GLVC Tennis Championships at Center Grove High School and Middle School. UIndy will enter the annual event as the three-time defending champion of the GLVC.
