COLUMBUS, Ohio – UIndy junior
Pilar Echeverria (69-72-74) earned her second consecutive individual medal Sunday, topping a talented field at the Ohio State Lady Buckeye Invitational, held at The Scarlet Course at OSU in Columbus, Ohio this weekend. As a team, the Greyhounds (296-296-310) finished seventh among an otherwise all-Division-I field that included eight Big Ten schools.
Â
With the top five featuring players from schools such as Maryland, Illinois and Michigan State, Echeverria out-shot them all as the only player in the 75-woman field to finish under par. She opened the tournament with a three-under 69, followed by an even-par 72, and finished with a two-over 74 to settle at -1. It marked her fifth medalist honor of the season, setting a new program record.
Â
No other Greyhound finished in the top 25, with freshman
Cailyn Henderson (+12) following Echeverria in 28th place. Senior Kennedy Holtslcaw (+14) tied for 32th, sophomore
Anna Kramer and freshman
Elyse Stasil (+23) shard 60th place, and senior
Katharina Keilich (+24) tied for 64th.
Â
All six players competed in the UIndy lineup, as the event featured the rare play-six-count-four format.
