INDIANAPOLIS- In the first NCAA Division II Regional Ranking of the season, the #24 UIndy men's tennis squad comes in atop the Midwest Region, released Wednesday.

The Greyhounds (12-5) were the Midwest Region champions a season ago, en route to an NCAA Division II semifinal appearance. UIndy's 2018 Midwest Regional Championship opponent, Wayne State comes in at #2 in the region, with Drury, Grand Valley State, Lewis, Missouri-St. Louis, Ferris State and Northwood rounding out the top 8. 

UIndy was also Regional champions in 2016 and 2015. The top eight teams in each region make the NCAA Tournament, with the top two in each region earning the right to host a regional event.

Also Wednesday, the Greyhounds moved from #20 to #24 in the ITA Division II team rankings. Renato Lima comes in at #6 nationally on the singles court, while Nils Hoffacker comes in at #33. In doubles, Matej Kostadinov and Dario Huber moved from the #17 to the #11 team in the nation.

The Greyhounds look to defend their Great Lakes Valley Conference championship this weekend, playing host to the league's Men's and Women's Tennis Championships Friday through Sunday.  UIndy is currently scheduled to face off with the 4-seed from the West Division, Rockhurst, at 1 p.m. Friday.
