INDIANAPOLIS – UIndy student-athlete
Pilar Echeverria capped the regular season by collecting the year's final GLVC Women's Golf Player of the Week honor, announced Thursday by league officials. The release marks the sixth conference weekly award of the season and 14th of her career – both good for conference records.
The All-America performer earned the honor by winning the otherwise all-Division-I Ohio State Lady Buckeye Invitational last weekend. With the top five featuring players from schools such as Maryland, Illinois and Michigan State, Echeverria out-shot them all as the only player in the 75-woman field to finish under par. She opened the tournament with a three-under 69, followed by an even-par 72, and finished with a two-over 74 to settle at -1. It marked her fifth medalist honor of the season, setting a new program record.
Up next for the Greyhounds is the
2019 GLVC Championships, set for April 26-28 in Springfield, Ill. UIndy looks to extend its active streak of seven consecutive conference titles.
