GREENWOOD, Ind.- The #6 UIndy women's tennis team closed out a dominant 2019 GLVC Women's Tennis Championship Sunday with a 4-0 defeat of #4E Bellarmine in the league finale at Center Grove High School.
The Greyhounds, who with the win claimed their league-best 11th GLVC crown, swept their way through the tournament, with a trio of 4-0 wins en route to the 2019 title. The win pushes UIndy's spotless record to 21-0 on the season, with 14 of those victories coming via shutout.
The two doubles squad of
Hanna Volikova and
Alina Kislitskaya were first to finish for the Hounds, taking a 6-2 win.
Maja Pindelska and
Anna Valiaeva clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 win over their own, closing out the doubles competition in just less than 30 minutes.
Valiaeva was the first to take a singles win, taking a 6-0, 6-0 victory at six singles.
Nikol Alexeeva notched the third UIndy point with a 6-1, 6-1 win at two singles, with the lone Greyhound senior, Volikova, clinching the 2019 GLVC Championship with a 6-1, 6-2 win at one singles.
The Greyhounds now await May 7's NCAA Selection Show to determine their NCAA Regional fate. The first round of the 2019 NCAA Division II Championships will be played on campus sites May 13-14.
