GREENWOOD, Ind.- The undefeated Greyhound women's tennis team will return to the NCAA Division II Sweet 16, after a 4-0 win over four-seed Drury in the Midwest Region I final Tuesday morning at Center Grove High School.
Top-seeded UIndy (22-0) made quick work of the doubles matches taking the doubles point in just 22 minutes, with the two doubles team of
Alina Kislitskaya and
Hanna Volikova taking a 6-0 win and the three doubles duo of
Anna Valiaeva and
Maja Pindelska following shortly with a 6-0 win of their own. One doubles was left on the court, with the tandem of
Nikol Alexeeva and
Anya Novikova up 5-0 when their match ended.
The total match took just more than an hour and 15 minutes, with Kislitskaya downing her five singles opponent 6-0, 6-0 and Valiaeva posting an identical 6-0, 6-0 score in the six singles spot. Alexeeva closed out the 4-0 win with a 6-1, 6-1 showing at two singles. In total, the Greyhounds surrendered just two games in the matches finished.
The trip to the finals site will be the fourth in program history for the Greyhounds, who made the round of 16 three straight years from 2015-17 before falling in last season's Regional final to fall one match short.Â
