INDIANAPOLIS – The 2019 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships kick off Monday. The UIndy women's golf team was dubbed the No. 1 seed at the East Super Regional and will be one of 12 teams at The Pearl Club in Owensboro, Ky., May 6-8.
Â
The Hounds earned an automatic berth to the postseason after winning an unprecedented eighth consecutive
Great Lakes Valley Conference title back on April 28. They will be joined by two other GLVC teams at regionals, including Missouri-St. Louis (4 seed) and Illinois Springfield (8). GLIAC-champion Grand Valley State was awarded the No. 2 seed, followed by G-MAC-champ Findlay (3) and Northern Michigan (5).
Â
Each of the nation's four super regionals will consist of team and individual competition conducted concurrently, with 12 teams and six individuals from non-qualifying teams at each site. All participants will compete throughout 54 holes of competition, with the top four teams along with the top four individuals not with an advancing team moving on to the championships. The 2019 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships will be held May 15-18 at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
Â
The Hounds, who begin teeing off at 9:40 a.m. ET Monday, will be making their 13th consecutive trip to the postseason. Last season, UIndy won its seventh straight
regional crown before going on to capture its second
national championship in the last four years.
