GREENWOOD, Ind. - For the second straight year, four UIndy athletes have been named GoogleCloud CoSIDA Academic All-District® honorees.
Katharina Keilich leads the group with her third consecutive award, while
Nils Hoffacker garners his second accolade by the organization.
Brody Conner and
Payton Staman each earned their first Academic All-District® after outstanding performances during the 2018-19 year.
The Greyhounds were selected from a vast number of nominees, as both combined men's and women's at-large umbrella includes the sports of bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming & diving, tennis, men's volleyball, water polo and wrestling. The prestigious honor is released annually to recognize the region's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Voted on by the nation's sports information director, eligible student-athletes must have a minimum 3.30 cumulative GPA and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution. Academic All-District® honorees move on to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot, with national winners released next month.
Keilich and Hoffacker are riding tremendous senior campaigns, as the
women's golf and
men's tennis teams are representing UIndy at their respective national championship event this weekend. Keilich, a four-time All-GLVC honoree, placed third at the GLVC Championships this season. The senior recorded six top-10 finishes overall this season. Wetzlar, Germany product has two career top-five finishes at the NCAA Championships, including winning the 2018 individual medal to lead the Greyhounds to the team title Keilich is also a four-time WGCA All-Region performer, and three-time All-American. She currently owns the second-lowest career scoring average in program history (74.8).
Hoffacker has ranked as high as #29 in the ITA Men's NCAA Division II Singles ranking this season and has appeared in the top 35 every ranking during his senior campaign. Hoffacker was named to the All-GLVC First Team as a senior after boasting an undefeated 19-0 record on the singles court this season, while adding a 17-3 mark on the doubles court. The Lauffen, Germany native is a three-time All-GLVC honoree and two-time GLVC Tennis Player of the Week. He has been a member of the Dean's List for four years, and a three-time Academic All-GLVC selection.
Conner is a two-time National Qualifier in his career, while also being a two-time finalist for NCAA Elite 90 Award. He was named an Honorable-Mention All-GLVC wrestler as a junior after his second-team All-GLVC as a sophomore. Conner has spent even semesters on the Dean's List and has been a three-time Academic All-GLVC honoree. The Paw Paw, Mich. native placed second at the 2019 NCAA Super Regional, while also being the GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship honoree for the sport of wrestling.
Staman concluded his junior season as a five-time All-America honoree after placing second on the 1-meter and third on the 3-meter at the
2019 NCAA DII Swimming & Diving Championships. The Roscoe, Ill. product set the 11-dive school record on the low board with a total of 552.10 points at Nationals in March after being named the GLVC Diver of the Year with event titles on both boards.
