Undefeated Women's Tennis Moves on to National Semifinal

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla.- The #6 UIndy women's tennis team, the two-seed, earned a berth in the 2019 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship semifinals with a 4-0 win over 10-seed Northwest Missouri State Thursday morning at Sanlando Park.

The 4-0 shutout was the 17th on the year for the Hounds, and their 12th in a row. The stingy Greyhounds have not allowed an opponent a point in more than two months- since March 15.

Strong work at doubles set the tone for the match early. The one doubles duo of Nikol Alexeeva and Anya Novikova won 6-1, with three doubles and Maja Pindelska and Anna Valiaeva clinching the doubles point for the Hounds with a 6-3 victory.

Senior GLVC Player of the Year Hanna Volikova pushed the Greyhound lead to 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-2 win in the top singles spot, with  Midwest Region and GLVC Freshman of the Year Alexeeva notching the third UIndy point with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at two singles. Alina Kislitskaya iced the UIndy win with a 6-2, 6-4 five singles victory.

The win sets up a semifinal matchup of NCAA Division II's two unbeaten teams. UIndy will face off with tournament three-seed Lynn Friday morning. The Fighting Knights currently boast a record of 26-0, and are ranked #1 in the ITA Division II Women's Tennis rankings. First serve from Sanlando Park is set for 9 a.m. EST.
