Hounds split Friday twin-bill with Quincy

INDIANAPOLIS – After getting swept by Illinois Springfield on the road last week, the UIndy baseball team returned home for their final series of the season against the Quincy Hawks. The Hawks were ranked No. 7 last week, lost five straight coming into this weekend's series. Quincy had already punched their ticket to next week's GLVC tournament with the Hounds sitting in the 7th spot currently.

Jake Perreira got the Greyhounds on the board with two RBI's early on, first with a solo homer to right before reaching on a fielder's choice the next inning. Kyle Orloff drove in three ribbies as well on the afternoon before Trey Smith sent a solo shot to National Avenue to give UIndy a 7-0 lead heading into the top of the ninth. Quincy brought in three quick runs on three-consecutive singles before sending a three-run homerun off the ARC before Johnny Irish struck out the next batter to seal the game one victory over the Hawks. Reid Werner threw eight and one-third inning for UIndy Friday afternoon, only giving up five hits until the ninth inning, finishing with seven total on the day while striking out eight Quincy batters.

Quincy got to Corey Bates early in game two, putting up two runs in the top of the first inning. Quincy put one more run on the board after the first in the ninth inning. Meanwhile for the Hounds, the offense did not get going until the ninth inning when Kyle Orloff got hit by a pitch and then Tyler Phillips came up next with a double down the right field line to give UIndy runners on second and third with no one out. Orloff and Phillips were stranded unfortunately as Quincy took game two of the doubleheader from the Hounds
