UIndy Vaults to Second in Penultimate Directors’ Cup Standings

CLEVELAND – Following a massive points grab this spring, the University of Indianapolis leapfrogged 19 spots to second place in the latest NCAA Division II Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup standings, released Thursday. With only two DII championships yet to be decided, the Greyhounds are gunning for their highest-ever finish on the prestigious list.

Sitting in 21st after the final winter standings, UIndy racked up a DII-leading 488 points in the spring to catapult into the top tier. The Greyhounds notched top-10 finishes in six of nine spring sports to date, including national semifinal appearances from women's golf, men's lacrosse and women's tennis.

The final 2018-19 standings will be released June 12, with championships in baseball and women's rowing yet to be decided. As it stands, the Greyhounds are assured their 13th consecutive top-20 finish. They have three top-five showings in that span, including a record fourth-place finish in 2013-14.

The Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish at NCAA Championships. Complete standings and the scoring structure can be found on NACDA's website at www.directorscup.org.
