ALLENDALE, Mich.- The Greyhound men's tennis team will be represented at the ITA Oracle Cup on the singles side for the fourth year in a row, and will also feature a doubles team from UIndy this year as well.
Dario Huber, the bracket's seven seed, came out on top of the draw Monday to earn his spot at the ITA Oracle Cup. Huber went 6-0 through the bracket, including a 6-2, 6-2 upset of top-seeded Adham Gaber of Southwest Baptist in the quarterfinals and a 6-4, 6-2 win over bracket five-seed Niklas Karcz of Wayne State in the semifinals. Huber won 7-5, 6-0 over Yannic Alexander Mader of Ferris State to take the bracket.Â
Huber will also represent the Hounds on the doubles courts in Rome, Ga., along with his partner
Renato Lima. Huber and Lima went 5-0 through the doubles draw as the two-seed, finally facing off with Drury's Hadeler and Kokalj in the bracket finale. The Greyhound duo topped the one-seed Panthers, 6-3, 6-2 to earn their ITA Oracle Cup spot.
Lima, last year's ITA Regional singles champion, won through to the bracket semifinal, where the Greyhound two-seed was upset by Mader.
Maximilian Witthaus and
Cristian Morales also competed, falling in the early rounds, with the consolation brackets suspended due to weather and facility needs.
The ITA Oracle Cup will be played Oct. 17-20 in Rome, Ga. Joining Huber and Lima will be Nikol Alekseeva, who topped the women's singles draw at last week's ITA Women's Regional.
