Greyhounds Dominate Second Half to Defeat Lindenwood

INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 23 UIndy men's basketball team (11-3, 3-3 GLVC) shot 64 percent from the field in the second half to pull off a comeback win over the visiting Lindenwood Lions (8-6, 2-4 GLVC) at Nicoson Hall, 79-67.

Senior Jimmy King led the way for the Greyhounds with 19 points, eight rebounds and four assists, while junior Trevor Lakes came off the bench to record 15 points and nine boards.

HOW IT HAPPENED
It was a grind in the opening half, with Lindenwood's TJ Crockett scoring 14 of the team's 35 points. The Lions forced the UIndy big men into foul trouble early, drawing a pair of fouls both Jacob Polakovich and Kendrick Tchoua to fuel an 11-0 run late in the half and lead by as many as six points.

The Greyhounds took over the second half, however, shooting 64 percent as a unit and 50 percent from 3-point range. Lakes gave UIndy the lead for good at the 12:43 mark with his first 3-pointer of the night, before sinking another one just 26 seconds later.

Cory Miller Jr. put an exclamation point on the eventual-11-point run with a slam on the fast break, assisted by Lakes, who scored nine in the stretch. Two more deep balls from Jordache Mavunga and Lakes put the game out of reach with less than five minutes left, as the Greyhounds led by 19 before calling off the dogs.

Jaylin Chinn scored the team's final four points to give the Greyhounds a 79-67 win.
