HOW IT HAPPENED
UIndy did not get off to a fast start against the top-ranked Panthers, falling behind 14-0 in just over the first three minutes of the game. Drury would go on to score 26 points in the frame on 58 percent shooting while holding the Greyhound offense to 10 points on 4-of-12 shooting. The Hounds were able to get their offense rolling in the second period, outscoring the Panthers 18-14 on 53 percent shooting. UIndy was able to cut the deficit from 22 down to 12 going into halftime.
Â
The Hounds cut the Drury lead down to 10 after a
Paige Barrett jumper to open the second half, however the Panthers would extend their lead back to where it once was in a matter of minutes. Drury would go on to outscore UIndy 26-11 in the third, forcing nine Greyhound turnovers accounting for 25 of their points. The fourth quarter saw the Greyhounds hold the Panther offense to just seven points in the period, but the deficit was too much to overcome as No. 1 Drury won 73-51.
