Trio of Hounds Finish in Double Figures as UIndy beats SBU

INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy women's basketball team played host to another new GLVC member in Nicoson Hall Saturday afternoon. Like when they hosted Lindenwood a couple of weeks ago, the Greyhounds took care of Southwest Baptist Saturday afternoon, beating the Bearcats 67-56.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hounds struggled to get their offense rolling in the first period, shooting 17 percent on 3-of-17 from the field. The second period is where UIndy started to hit their stride, going 9-for-14 from the field while holding the Bearcats to 33 percent shooting. Laura Thomas sparked the Greyhounds offense, scoring 12 points while draining three from beyond the arc to give UIndy a 31-27 lead at the break.

UIndy kept their foot on the gas in the third quarter, using a 9-0 run after a Mickey Sasson three-pointer to extend their lead near double digits before taking a 10 point lead later after a pair of Thomas free throws. Southwest Baptist cut the Greyhound lead down to just two with a couple minutes to go in the game, but Telfair and Thomas combined to put the game away with free throws in the closing minute before Mickey Sasson added two more for good measure as the Hounds held on to win 67-56.
