INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy head coach
Brent Nicoson is proud to announce a pair of additions to his women's golf team. Ellen Caton and Anci Dy both signed their National Letters of Intent to join the Greyhounds in the fall of 2021.
ELLEN CATON
Hailing from the golf Mecca of St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland, Ellen Caton is one of the top amateurs in her home country. She earned a win the Royal & Ancient Golf Club Local Club's Gold Medal in 2019 and also qualified for the prestigious St. Rule Trophy – a top European women's amateur event, and was also part of the Scottish girl's training team. Caton went on to take runner-up at the St. Andrew's Junior Matchplay Championships in the summer of 2021.
Ellen, who plans to study Chemistry at UIndy, is the daughter of Dale and Catriona Caton. She has a brother, Ben, who plays college golf at Houston Baptist University.
"Ellen will be a great addition to our program," said Nicoson, "as she is a very well-rounded young lady and a great player. She brings international tournament experience with her and is an extremely hard worker.
"I have high expectations for her in our program. She's a strong player, very coachable and a tireless worker, all of which are characteristics of a successful player at this high level."
ANCI DY
Also joining the Hounds next fall is Anci Dy of Traverse City, Mich. The two-time all-state honoree is currently ranked No. 1 in the state's class of '21 by Junior Golf Scoreboard. She twice won individual medals at both conference and regional levels and also placed in the top six at the Michigan Division I State Championship all four years.
A member of the National Honor Society, Anci is the daughter of Solomon and Tess Dy. Her older sister Anika plays golf at the University of Michigan.
"Anci brings the total package with her to UIndy," Nicoson stated. "She's not only a tremendous player, but a very well-rounded student-athlete and leader. She'll fit into our culture and program perfectly.
"I'm so excited to coach Anci. She works extremely hard, is a super young lady, and comes from a very competitive golf family. I can't wait to see her in Crimson & Grey."
