Women's Hoops Picked Third in GLVC East

INDIANAPOLIS - The UIndy women's basketball team was predicted to finish third in the East Division according to the 2020-21 Great Lakes Valley Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, the league announced Wednesday. The Greyhounds received 46 points total in the poll, 11 behind second-place Lewis.

In response to adjustments needed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the GLVC regular season will feature three divisions and a 22-game schedule, where every team plays every divisional opponent twice (home and away), four random non-divisional opponents twice (home and away), and every other non-divisional opponent once. The top eight teams with the most points derived from the GLVC point rating system at the end of the regular season will earn a berth to the GLVC Basketball Championship Tournament, set for March 4-7 and hosted on campus sites.

Southern Indiana was tabbed to win the East Division, while Truman tops the Central and Drury leads the West. USI (10) and Lewis (5) split the East's first-place votes. Drury won both the league's regular season and tournament titles last season.

UIndy's fifth-year head coach Kristin Wodrich returns three starters from last year's team that racked up 19 wins and earned the sixth seed in the GLVC Tournament. The Greyhounds tip off the 2020-21 campaign at home on Friday, Nov. 27 versus William Jewell College.
