ON TAP
Still in search of its first win of the season, the UIndy men's basketball team hits the road for its first games away from Nicoson Hall. The Greyhounds have won nine of their last 10 contests to open the new calendar year.
Due to the ongoing global pandemic, the GLVC Â - along with each conference in NCAA DII - modified its league slate this season. The GLVC instituted a league-only 22-game schedule for the 2020-21 campaign. Per conference rules, fans will not be permitted in the facility and are directed to GLVCSN.com/UIndy to follow along.
ABOUT QUINCY
The Hawks started the 2020-21 campaign on a rocky plane, but picked up their first win over Maryville on Dec. 12, before giving No. 12 Truman a scare in a five-point loss just before the holiday break.Â
Tanner Stuckman has been on a tear to open his senior season, averaging 21.2 ppg on 68.9 percent shooting, including a 51.9 percent clip (14 for 27) from 3-point range after earning All-GLVC Second Team honors a year ago. The Quincy native became the 38th Hawk in program history to score 1,000 career points in a Quincy uniform earlier this season.Â
Viktor Kovacevic continues to make an impact for Quincy since transferring from Borough of Manhattan CC prior to last season, leading the Hawks with 5.3 rpg and contributing 15.7 ppg on 61.5 percent shooting. Newcomer Jamaurie Coakley leads the team with 25 assists, starting three of the first six games in his first season with Quincy.
HOUNDS VS. HAWKS
UIndy leads the all-time series over the Hawks, 23-12. The Hounds have claimed six of the last seven matchups with an average margin of victory of 12.9 points.
ABOUT MCKENDREE
Receiving the other first-place vote to top the East Division in the preseason coaches poll, McKendree has gotten off to a 3-2 start with wins over Rockhurst, Missouri S&T and Lewis. The Bearcats suffered an 11-point loss to division favorite Southern Indiana after opening the season with two straight wins.Â
Bryson Bultman paces the Bearcats with 18.8 ppg while averaing 38 minutes per contest. The Nashville, Ill., product was named the GLVC Freshman of the Year a year ago after leading the team in rebounding and ranking third in scoring. Bultman currently ranks fifth in the GLVC with 5.0 apg.
Newcomer Brendan Gooch has been a force inside for the Bearcats after transferring from D-I Southern Illinois Carbondale, contributing 13.0 ppg and 8.6 rpg, which ranks third in the GLVC.Â
HOUNDS VS. BEARCATS
McKendree picked up its first win over UIndy ever last season, downing the Hounds by the score of 78-74 in Lebanon. However, UIndy redeemed itself in a high-scoring win to close the regular season, topping the Bearcats, 96-91, to improve to 12-1 all-time in the series.
LAST TIME OUT
The Hounds suffered their third straight loss to open the season against Leis, dropping a 77-64 final to the visiting Flyers from Nicoson Hall.
Â

M FOR MACHINE

PROTECTING THE ROCK
The Greyhounds limited their turnovers against the Flyers, recording just 10 giveaways in the loss. UIndy has now lowered its turnover total each game since opening night.
HELPING HAND

Aaron Etherington sunk three 3-pointers, while
Dee Montgomery,
Dravon Clayborn and
Cory Miller Jr. contributed to the run.
FRESHMAN FUN
Freshman
Aaron Etherington's 3-pointer midway through the first half against Lewis sparked a 9-1 run in favor of the Hounds. The Fishers native found the bottom of the net on three straight occasions, helping UIndy stay within four before halftime.
NEW TOP DOG
New head coach
Paul Corsaro officially took over the reigns of the program on April 23, more than two weeks after 12-year veteran bench leader Stan Gouard resigned to take over Southern Indiana. A 2012 UIndy graduate, Corsaro spent six seasons as an assistant under Gouard, which included four NCAA tournament appearances.
...AND IT FEELS SO GOOD
Teammate of
Jesse Bingham at Warren Central,
Jakobie Robinson transferred after earning GLVC All-Freshman team recognition just a season ago at McKendree. Bingham and Robinson led Warren Central to an Indiana state title in 2018.
INDY CONNECTIONS
Two of Corsaro's new assistants have ties to Indiana in
Mike Burris and
Roosevelt Jones. Burris, most recently the head coach for 15 seasons at Olney Central College, hails from Owensburg, Ind., nearly 75 miles from Indianapolis.Â
Jones graduated from Butler in 2016, where he finished his career as a Bulldog ranked 11th in program history with 1,533 points. Most recently Jones served as the Associate Head Coach at IU-Kokomo before joining the Greyhounds.
LIVING LEGACY

Ben is averaging 17.7 minutes per game as a sophomore, contributing 1.3 ppg, 1.0 rpg and 1.0 apg thus far.
