INDIANAPOLIS – Defense carried the UIndy men's basketball team (18-5, 10-5 GLVC) on Thursday evening, limiting the visiting Quincy Hawks (12-11, 6-9 GLVC) to 36.5 percent shooting on its way to a 77-60 victory at Nicoson Hall.
Â
Marcus Latham and
Kendrick Tchoua combined for 29 points and 10 rebounds off the bench, while
Jimmy King finished with 20 tallies and eight assists.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
It was a tough opening half in terms of shooting for the Greyhounds, who went just 14 for 34 from the field in the first 20 minutes. However, Tchoua provided a spark off the bench with four points and five of his rebounds to help UIndy to a 31-23 halftime advantage.
Â
Trevor Lakes, dealing with an illness, still provided 14 minutes, including a pair of 3-pointers, before the break.
Â
UIndy rolled in the second half, shooting 60 percent from the field as a team to score 46 points in the final 20 minutes. Latham exploded (like he does) for 13 points, while Tchoua drilled four-of-four field-goal attempts to finish with 14.
