BELLEVILLE, Ill.- The #4 UIndy women's tennis team improved to 5-0 with a 7-0 sweep of DIII #20 WashU Saturday evening.
Nikol Alekseeva and
Anna Novikova took the first win at No. 1 doubles, 6-2, with
Anna Valiaeva and
Maja Pindelska clinching the doubles point, also with a 6-2 score, at No. 3 doubles.
No Greyhound allowed more than four games to be won in any set in sweeping the six singles matches. Novikova notched fhe first singles point with a 6-2, 6-0 win at two singles, with
Alina Kislitskaya making the match 3-0 in favor of UIndy with a 6-1, 6-2 win at three singles.
Maria Solnyshkina represented the clinching point for the Hounds, taking a 6-3, 6-0 win at four singles. Valiaeva pushed the score to 5-0 UIndy with a a 6-4 6-1 win in the five singles spot, while Alekseeva came away with a 6-0, 6-3 win in the No. 1 singles match. Pindelska closed out the 7-0 sweep with a 6-3, 6-3 win at six singles.
UIndy stays in St. Louis for a Division II regional showdown between the Midwest Regions one and two teams Sunday. The Greyhounds will take on #T20 Southwest Baptist in a non-GLVC match Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
