INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy baseball team hosted Notre Dame College at Greyhound Park in their home opener Saturday afternoon. It was a chilly day at the ballpark, but the Greyhound bats were hot as the Hounds rolled past the Falcons 22-9.

HOW IT HAPPPENED
Entering the fourth inning, UIndy was down 7-6 having given up at least two runs in each of the first three innings. The Greyhound offense came alive starting off the inning with back-to-back-to-back home runs from
John Carpinelli,
Hunter Waning, and
Coby Taylor to give UIndy the lead. The offensive onslaught was not over as five more runs came across the plate to give the Hounds the 14-7 lead. The next inning, UIndy scored five more to blow the game completely open.
Justyn Eichbaum also homered later in the game as the Hounds won their fourth-straight game.

Reid Werner took the bump for five innings Saturday afternoon, only sacrificing three hits while striking out right batters. UIndy struck out 10 batters Saturday afternoon, outside of Werner's eight,
David Corbin and
Cole Humphrey each recorded a punch out in the win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-Since scoring just one run in the season opener against Hillsdale last weekend, the Hounds have scored 53 runs in their last four games.
-UIndy's 22 runs is their most in a game since scoring 25 runs last season against Truman.
-Four Greyhounds recorded three of more RBIs in the win.
Trey Smith led the way with six batted and
Hunter Waning had five to his credit,
Will Smithey and
Justyn Eichbaum each drove in three runs.
