INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 4 Indianapolis Greyhound women's tennis team hosted Grand Valley State on Saturday, continuing their undefeated season by taking down the Lakers on a final score of 6-1.
The Greyhounds took a majority of doubles matches against Grand Valley, winning two out of the three. The first doubles match to finish was a sweep (6-0) for the Greyhounds, completed by the duo of
Anna Valiaeva and
Maja Pindelska.
Nikol Alekseeva and
Anna Novikova were the next crew to complete their match, winning on a final score of 6-1. The last doubles match to finish was not in UIndy's favor, as
Alina Kislitskaya and
Maria Solnyshkina fell to their Laker matchup 4-6.
The singles matches also were swayed in Greyhounds' favor, claiming five of the six matches. Kislitskaya's hot start was a huge factor in her win, finishing first on a final score of 6-0, 6-3. Alekseeva had a strong back-half in her match, taking down her opponent 6-3, 6-0 next. Novikova's 6-3, 6-0 score was the next match to complete, keeping the Greyhounds' singles win-streak to three straight. The next match to conclude was a 6-2, 6-0 win from Valiaeva. Solnyshkina battled through a tough battle, prevailing over her Laker opponent on a final score 6-2, 6-0.
Lizaveta Demchenko was the final single to finish, but fell to her Grand Valley foe 3-6, 3-6.
The Greyhounds will have a week to prepare for their road trip to Missouri, taking on Washington in St. Louis on Feb. 15. That match will kick off at 3:30 p.m.
