Gouard Resigns As UIndy Men's Basketball Head Coach

INDIANAPOLIS – University of Indianapolis Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Sue Willey announced today that Stan Gouard will be stepping down as the Greyhounds men's basketball coach. After 12 seasons at UIndy, Gouard accepted the head coaching position at his alma mater, the University of Southern Indiana.

"I am extremely proud of Stan and his growth as a head coach over the past 12 years," said Willey. "He has done a tremendous job at UIndy and he and his family will be missed."

UIndy President Robert L. Manuel added, "Stan truly embodies our mission 'Education for Service' and has helped a generation of young men reach their true potential not only on the court but in the classroom and community.  He built our basketball program and our students into a national model of success, and he will be missed in the UIndy community."

In his time at UIndy, Gouard compiled a 228-117 (.661) record, amassing the second-highest win total in program history. The Greyhounds racked up six 20-win seasons and seven NCAA Tournament berths under his tutelage, including a trip to the Sweet Sixteen in 2015. This past season, the Hounds went 24-6 and earned the No. 1 seed in the Midwest Region before the national tournament was canceled due to COVID-19 concerns.

"I wish Stan a ton of success in the future, except for the games when he is playing UIndy," concluded Willey.
