As part of our coverage in these unprecedented times, UIndyAthletics.com will revisit some of the biggest moments in recent school history with its new feature: Greyhound Flashback. Today we take a look at Luke Hubert, a former UIndy men's tennis player who became the all-time singles wins leader during his senior campaign in April 2016 at the GLVC Championships in Plainfield, Ill.

An All-GLVC selection in the spring of 2016, Luke Hubert gathered 46 total wins as a senior, including 25 on the singles court. Among his eventual-number of 82 victories, Hubert posted 29 wins from the No. 3 singles slot, followed by 17 in the five-hole.

Hubert claimed 155 career victories as a Greyhound, adding 73 doubles wins to his total. As a junior in 2014-15, the New Berlin, Wis., product earned Capitol One Academic All-America distinction, as well as ITA Arthur Ashe Jr. Sportsmanship award for the Midwest Region.

"Being a part of a tight Greyhound family, and a team that took the tennis program to new heights, is something I'll treasure forever," Hubert said on Friday morning. "I couldn't ask for a better university and group of teammates to go out and battle for."

ORIGINAL RECAP
One name stands alone in the UIndy men's tennis career record book as the winningest singles player in program history: Luke Hubert.

Hubert, a senior from New Berlin, Wis., won his 81st career singles match Friday at Plainfield East High School in Plainfield, Ill., passing Marko Saulovic (1999-2003) for most by any Greyhound in men's tennis history. He surpassed the mark in his 101st career singles match, giving him a sterling .802 all-time win percentage.

Meanwhile, the 21st-ranked Greyhounds (15-2) cruised past the Quincy Hawks (6-12) for the second consecutive season in the GLVC Tournament quarterfinals, advancing in a lopsided 5-0 decision.

Hubert and teammate Marco Razo put up the first point after defeating Chris Bueler and Danyil Vayser, 8-0, improving to 13-3 as a tandem this season.

Shortly after, Arklon Huertas del Pino and Andrea Morlet swept past Patrick Kuhle and Ryan McMillan by the same score, moving to 12-5.

The three-point doubles sweep was complete when Christoph Drechsler and Magnus Mueller defeated Michael Lesko and Wyatt Pauley, 8-5, in No. 2. The two are a team-best 15-2, and have yet to lose to GLVC competition.

Mueller met Pauley again in No. 4 singles action, cruising to a 6-0, 6-0 victory to make it 4-0 in favor of the Hounds. The freshman is now 12-1 from the No. 4 singles position this spring.

Hubert capped the quarterfinal rout with his historic 6-1, 6-1 win against Vayser in No. 3 singles. After having his 15-match winning streak snapped last Saturday, Hubert rebounded to improve to 24-4 overall and 16-1 in dual matches this season.

The Greyhounds will attempt to reach their third straight GLVC Championship match tomorrow when they take on the winner of Missouri-St. Louis and Lewis. First serve from the Jack Oremus Tennis Complex on Lewis University's campus is scheduled for 10 a.m. ET.

WHAT HAPPENED NEXT
Hubert graduated with 82 singles wins, and a degree in biology and chemistry before enrolling in Indiana University School of Optometry. At IU, Hubert performed an extensive amount of research at the Sports Vision Center, and just graduated with his Doctorate of Optometry. He is moving to Arlington, Va., to begin his optometry career in just a few weeks.

At the private practice outside of Washington D.C., Hubert will provide primary care optometry. The practice also employs the team optometrist for local professional teams, such as the Nationals, Capitals, DC United and the NFL team located in the nation's capital. There, Hubert will be granted the opportunity to perform "top-level sports vision training."
