ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- The #11 UIndy wrestling team opened its 2021 season with a pair of wins in Great Lakes Valley Conference action Sunday.
In the first competition in 316 days for the Greyhounds (2-0; 2-0 GLVC), they took a 26-17 win over #19 Drury. UIndy closed out the day with a 28-9 win over the host Tigers.

After a Drury forfeit at 125, redshirt freshman
Gavin Ritter made his debut in a UIndy singlet with a 6-0 Â win over Joe Chavez to push the Greyhounds to a 9-0 lead. The Panthers took a major decision win at 141, followed by true freshman
Logan Bailey opening his UIndy career in a menacing fashion at 149 with a pin in 1:57 over Trevor Christian to put the score at 15-4 Greyhounds.

Dawson Combest opened his season with an 8-1 decision at 157, with #5
Jack Eiteljorge following with a 14-4 major at 165 over Ethan Smith. After Drury took a win at 174, another youngster came through for the Hounds with redshirt freshman
Derek Blubaugh taking an 11-1 major over Tucker Caswell.
The Panthers closed out the dual with six points for an injury default at 197 and a major at 285 to run the final score to 26-17.
#11 UINDY 28 - OUACHITA BAPTIST 9
The Greyhounds took wins in the first eight bouts of the dual to earn the 28-9 win over the host Tigers.Â
Nick Brady took a 6-2 win over Brandon Anderson to open the dual, with Ritter following with a 9-5 win over Evan Kennedy to go 2-0 on the day.
Brayden Lowery earned his first UIndy win at 141, with the true freshman taking a 3-0 win over Jessie Hodge. Bailey closed out a 2-0 day to start his career with a 7-4 win over Jaylon Otero at 149, with #4 Combest pushing the UIndy lead to 16-0 with a 13-2 major over Chase Howerton at 157.
#5 Eiteljorge added another major at 165, taking a 10-1 win over Jackson Carter. Another true freshman,
Owen Butler, earned his first Greyhound win with a 7-6 hard-fought victory over Will Martin at 174. Blubaugh punctuated the UIndy win with a 7:00 tech fall, 20-5, over Brady Marple at 184.
UIndy returns to the mat next weekend, hosting a pair of Super Region 3 foes in #T17 Findlay and #8 Tiffin Saturday in Nicoson Hall. Matches begin at 11:00 a.m., with no spectators allowed for the competition. All action will be streamed live on the GLVC Sports Network.
