Greyhounds Fall to McKendree After Leading at Half

INDIANAPOLIS - After a four-game road stand, the UIndy women's basketball team (4-5, 4-5 GLVC) took on the McKendree Bearcats (4-6, 4-6) in Nicoson Hall on Thursday. Sadie Hill came off the bench and scored 21 points for the Greyhounds, but it wasn't enough as the Bearcats took the victory on a final score of 76-63.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bearcats' full-court pressure gave UIndy problems from the start, committing four turnovers in the first three minutes of action. The Greyhounds would total 23 turnovers throughout the contest, their highest mark so far this season. UIndy was able to maintain a five-point lead at halftime, however, as Taylor Drury and Hill each had 13 points to help maintain a 38-33 edge.

Despite Hill opening up the second half with a 3-pointer, McKendree found their mark by amassed 15 straight points in a three minute span. In the third quarter, UIndy shot 30 percent from the field compared to the Bearcats' 67 percent. UIndy couldn't find their rhythm in the final quarter of the contest, committing seven turnovers and hitting only four baskets.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Greyhounds out-rebounded the Bearcats by 13 in the contest (34-21), their second-highest differential this season.
- UIndy's four blocks are the most in a single game so far this season.
- McKendree's 67-percent shooting in the third quarter included six baskets from deep on eight attempts.

HOUND BYTES
Head coach Kristin Wodrich on the Bearcats' defensive game plan …
"We didn't play well. They pressed, they trapped us, we sped up and didn't meet many of our passes. We're going to have games like that, and you've got to be able to turn it around. We didn't make adjustments in the second half like we were supposed to, so we just need to regroup and get back at it."

UP NEXT
The Greyhounds will get back on the road Saturday, Jan. 16 to Romeoville, Ill., and take on Lewis. That game will tip off at 2 p.m.
