INDIANAPOLIS - After a heart-breaking loss earlier in the week, the UIndy women's basketball team (6-8, 6-8 GLVC) bounced back with one their best performances of the season on Saturday. The Hounds hosted the Quincy Hawks (1-12, 1-12) in Nicoson Hall and recorded new season highs in both points and assists in a final score of 82-57.
Junior
Liz Alsot scored 17 points in just 14 minutes of action on the court, her highest total since the 2018-19 season.
INS & OUTS
The Greyhounds were able to take a double-digit lead as early as seven minutes into the game due to their tenacious defensive, only allowing seven Quincy baskets in the first half of play. In the team's holding the Hawks to a shooting percentage of just 37 percent, the Hounds were able to stay aggressive on the glass, limiting them to five offensive rebounds and not a single second-chance point in the game.
Mickey Sasson ended the contest with a career-high 11 assists withÂ
Lauren With added eight rebounds to aid in the Hounds' +13 rebounding advantage.
The Greyhounds passed the rock with arguably the most patience they've had all season, recording 25 total assists on 29 baskets in the contest. Sasson led the team with eight dimes, with
Mya Scheidt right behind her with a new career high of six assists. With 11 more assists coming from the rest of the squad, the outing led to five Greyhounds in double-figures, including
Sadie Hill with 16 points,
Taylor Drury with 14 and 11 each from
Mya Scheidt and With.

HOUND BYTE
Head Coach Kristin Wodrich on the takeaways from Saturday's win …
"They did a great job correcting mental mistake; they did a fantastic job bouncing back from Thursday's game and following the game plan that we set and needed to execute. We run an offense where we want to get as many assists and baskets as we can with good team basketball. We saw good ball movement tonight, and that was really encouraging."
UP NEXT
UIndy will look to a pair of rematches on the road next week, first taking on the Truman Bulldogs in a tough contest in Kirksville, Mo. The Greyhounds will tip off that game on Thursday, starting at 6:30 p.m. ET.
