BOLIVAR, Mo. – The UIndy men's basketball team (0-6, 0-6 GLVC) experienced another road setback Wednesday night, as a late push lifted host Southwest Baptist (5-1, 5-1) to a 64-58 win at the Meyer Sports Center in Bolivar, Mo. Redshirt-freshman
Jesse Bingham amassed a season-high 21 points in the losing effort.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
Facing its third road game in four days, the Hounds managed to build an 11-point cushion with just over 10 minutes to go. UIndy kept the normally-potent Bearcats offense mostly in check to that point, but SBU came alive by scoring 24 of the final 31 points to close the night.
Â
A big four-point play from Nico Aguirre at the 8:46 mark was the turning point, sparking a 13-1 run that gave the Bearcats the lead for good. Bingham delivered a pair of clutch free throws to pull the Hounds within one with 1:35 to go, but SBU immediately answered with a 3-pointer and UIndy would ultimately not score again.
Â
Bingham had his best game offensively in his young Greyhound career. The hometown product led all players with 21 points, draining all four of his 3-point attempts while going 5-for-5 at the line.
Cory Miller Jr. added 14 points and seven rebounds as the only other Greyhound in double figures.

HOUNDS BYTES
Head Coach Paul Corsaro on today's result…
"Our guys had a really tough week, playing three road games in a four-day stretch. I know they were tired, but I thought they battled incredibly hard tonight. We've shown that we can hang in there with just about anybody in the league. Unfortunately, the record has not reflected that yet, but these guys continue to come the work.
"We're such a young team but we've shown a lot of growth and I'm confident that we'll continue to improve. We just need to stick together and understand that our best basketball is ahead of us."

MORE NOTES
SBU, which is receiving votes in the
latest DII coaches poll, came into averaging more than 83 points per game … UIndy is now 4-2 all-time versus the Bearcats.
