BOLIVAR, Mo. - The UIndy women's basketball team (4-3, 4-3 GLVC) kicked off the new calendar year on the road Wednesday, winning their game against Southwest Baptist (0-7, 0-7) on a final score of 72-61. The Greyhounds' win streak now extends to four after a 20-points performance from both
Taylor Drury and
Mickey Sasson.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After hitting less than 40 percent of their shots in the first quarter, the Greyhounds were able to find their rhythm, finishing the game at almost 45 percent from the field. UIndy made a big push at the end of the first half, hitting three consecutive 3-point baskets in just one minute of action, moving in front on buckets from
Ilani Williams-Harris,
Lauren With and
Mya Scheidt.
The only quarter that the Bearcats outscored UIndy was the third, where they cut the lead down to seven after going on a 8-1 scoring run. Sasson's 10 points in the fourth quarter helped keep the Greyhounds ahead the rest of the way, as the team hit its final 6 of 7 shots in the game, including a 3-pointer from Drury. With was able to influence both ends of the court tonight, supplying nine points, six rebounds and five assists in the contest.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Sasson and Drury's 20 points each is the first time a pair of Greyhounds dropped 20 each since
Laura Thomas (23) and
Emma Benoit (20) at Rockhurst last February.
- UIndy's nine turnovers are the lowest total in a game since a loss at Missouri-St. Louis last January.
- The Greyhounds' 11-point win is the biggest margin of victory for the team this season.
- UIndy's 12 personal fouls marks another season low, leading to 13 made free throws.
