COLUMBUS, OH – The University of Indianapolis men's basketball team opened their 2021-22 exhibition slate on Monday in Columbus, OH, taking on the Ohio State University. In the first-ever meeting between the two teams, the Buckeyes prevailed 82-46 at Value City Arena.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hounds held tough in the first half, trailing by 16 at half. Dee Montgomery and Jakobie Robinson nailed back-to-back three's to pull within five at the 10:35 mark. Three minutes later, Cory Miller Jr. notched a pair of quick layups to cut UIndy's deficit to seven with five minutes remaining.
Ohio State pulled away with a 16-1 run early in the second half. The Buckeyes outscored the Hounds 41-21 in the second frame behind 42.9% shooting. Ohio State outrebounded UIndy by a tally of 50-34.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Cory Miller Jr. dropped 11 points on 5-7 shooting.
- Julian Steinfeld paced the team with six rebounds, four of which were defensive.
- Steinfeld and Jesse Bingham each recorded a pair of blocks.
