INDIANAPOLIS—The UIndy men's basketball team suffered a 73-64 loss to visiting Cedarville Thursday night at Nicoson Hall. The Greyhounds clawed back from a 15-point halftime deficit to make it a three-point game but the Yellow Jackets had just enough answers down the stretch.
INS & OUTS
With the Hounds up 19-17 midway through the first half, the Yellow Jackets seized all the momentum by running off 13 unanswered points over a four-minute stretch. Sophomore
Aaron Etherington broke the drought with a 3-ball from the top of the key, but Cedarville would manage a 40-25 advantage at the break.
UIndy came out of the half swinging, with sophomore
Jakobie Robinson draining three triples in the opening two minutes.
Josiah Tynes drew a charge soon thereafter as the Hounds continued to chip away at the Jackets' lead.
UIndy whittled down the deficit to six on a
Dee Montgomery 3 at the nine-minute mark, and later a
Julian Steinfeld put-back made it 54-51 Cedarville.
The Yellow Jackets kept the Greyhounds at arm's length the rest of the way, however, especially after back-to-back 3s pushed the margin back to seven with six minutes to go. A Bingham jump hook in the lane made it 69-64 with a minute to go but UIndy failed to score again.
