ALLENDALE, Mich. – The University of Indianapolis women's soccer team fell to the No. 1 seeded Grand Valley State in the second round of the NCAA Midwest Regional on Saturday morning.
The Lakers defeated the Hounds 5-0, finalizing the Greyhounds season with a record of 11-4-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
GVSU came out swinging early, scoring four goals in the first half, off nine shots and three corner opportunities. While holding the Hounds to only two shots to end the half.
Maria Herrero led the Greyhounds landing the lone shot on goal.
Sophia Saucerman manned the net for the full 90, posting six saves.
The Lakers were led by Caitie Baron who posted a goal and an assist.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-The Lakers had seven corners, to UIndy's two.
-There was sixteen total fouls committed, eight per team.
-The Hounds were outshot on goal, 12-1.
2021 IN REVIEW
The Hounds will end the season 11-4-3 and 8-2-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Kiki Sauceda led the Greyhounds with 15 goals throughout the season off 27 shots, followed by
Maria Herrero who had four.
Defensively, GLVC Defensive Player of the Year,
Dana Youssef led the Hounds with four assists. While
Sophia Saucerman earned the most wins under her belt with seven, and 37 saves.
