#1 Hounds Roll Out Impressive House of Champions Showing

INDIANAPOLIS—The No. 1-ranked University of Indianapolis swimming & diving teams finished off the three-day House of Champions meet today, racking up a number of race wins, NCAA time standards and school records. In the final team standings, the men's squad won easily at 1,440.5 points while the women's team notched third place with 1,281 points.
 
DIVING (ALL SESSIONS)
 In the women's 1-meter, Alexis Lumaj, Mikaela Starr, and Sarah Kerbrat all qualified for the finals of a tough field consisting of heavy Division-I talent. In the finals, Lumaj (206.25), Starr (198.70), and Kerbrat (198.20) took home the fourth, fifth, and sixth best marks, respectively, in the B-final of the event.
 
The men's 1-meter saw Julio Osuna break the meet record with a final score of 337.60. Close behind, Cade Hammond notched a third place mark at 287.80. Jason Lenzo managed the fourth-best score in the B-final at 247.55.
 
The duo of Lumaj and Starr both continued their competition by qualifying for the finals in the 3-meter. Lumaj notched a third-best mark in the B-final (210.75) while Starr collected fifth-best score (201.20).
 
For the men's squad, Lenzo led the Hounds in the 3-meter with his fifth place finish in the 3-meter (255.00). Osuna was close-behind in seventh (251.90).
 
Finally, Osuna continued to impress during the meet with a second place mark in the platform diving at 283.80.
 
SWIMMING (THURSDAY)
The Greyhounds sprint speed was on full display on day one, as records fell in both the men's and women's 50 free. Fifth-year senior Victor Antonon became the fastest Greyhound ever in the event, touching in a lightning-fast 19.64 seconds in the morning prelims. But it was teammate Diego Mas (19.73) that won the evening final, followed closely by Antonon (19.82) and Joao Silva (19.93). 
 
In the women's 50, Johanna Buys broke the meet record with a 22.88 in the prelims and later topped it again with a 22.83 to win the final. Teammate Leticia Vaselli (23.18) took second on the evening, while Krystal Caylor (23.11) won the B final.
 
The women's 500 free featured three Greyhounds in the top eight, led by a runner-up finish from
Brynhildur Traustadottir and her comfortable B-cut time of 4:54.35.
 
Meanwhile, Sebastian Wenk (4:25.78) took second place in the men's 500 free.
 
The top three finishers in the women's 200 IM donned the Crimson & Grey of UIndy. Reigning event national-champ Marizel van Jaarsveld nearly broke the two-minute mark (2:00.32), followed by Kaitlyn McCoy and Andrea Gomez.
 
UIndy also won both 400 medley relays. On the women's side, McCoy, van Jaarsveld, Buys and Caylor combined for a meet-record 3:40.59—nearly three-and-a-half seconds ahead of runner-up Ball State.
 
The men's also delivered a meet record, with Jeron Thompson, Liki Prema, Kael Yorke and Antonon turning in a time of 3:13.12 to smoke the field by five full seconds.
 
SWIMMING (FRIDAY)
Prema headlined success in the pool for the Greyhounds on Friday, breaking his own previous school record and the meet record in the 100 breast. He now sits atop the school leaderboard after his A-cut 52.76 performance. Jan Zuchowicz (2nd at 53.23) and Sebestyen Bohm (4th at 54.81) each corralled B-cuts in the event finals.
 
Records continued to fall on the men's side, this time in the 200 MR. The quartet of Thompson, Zuchowicz, Yorke, and Antonon swam a new meet record of 1:25.03. More impressively, this mark ties the current school record set in place.
 
The 100 fly featured Buys coming up just short for the women (new school record and a B-cut of 54.57) while Yorke (new school record and a 2nd place finish at 47.07) Jackson Vanwanzeele (3rd at 48.80), and Silva (6th at 49.07) all collected B-cuts in the finals for the men. UIndy took the top two spots on the women's side in the 400 IM finals with Gomez winning (A-cut, 4:16.88) and van Jaarsveld being right behind (A-cut, 4:17.66) while Karolina Dubcakova earned a B-cut (5th at 4:26.05).
 
Caylor grabbed second place in the 200 free final (B-cut, 1:49.56) for the women's squad, while Vaselli earned a B-cut in the B Final race of the event (1:52.95) and Traustadottir in the C Final (1:51.24). Over in the men's 200 free, Wenk (B-cut, 1:38.42) and Anthony Williamson (B-cut, 1:39.22)  went 2-3 in the finals.
 
The 100 breast featured Simioni collecting second place for the Greyhounds (B-cut, 1:02.96), Sydney Balint sixth (B-cut, 1:03.70) and Schreuders eighth (1:04.31). McCoy continued her strong weekend for the women's team with a win and a new meet record in the 100 back (B-cut, 54.32). Mia Krstevska (55.58) and Julia Magierowska (56.17) went fifth and seventh with B-cuts in the event A finals, respectively, while Kyra Hall notched a B-cut in the B-Final (56.12).
 
Over in the men's 100 breast, Prema broke his own school record and the meet record with his A-cut finishing mark of 52.76. Zuchowicz (2nd at 53.23) and Bohm (4th at 54.81) each collected B-cuts in the race.
 
The men's squad dominated the 100 back as Swiderski (B-cut, 48.03) and Andras Tiszai (49.47) swept the top two spots in the finals.
 
Finally, UIndy collected a win in the 800 FR finals when the quartet of McCoy, van Jaarsveld, Traustadottir, and Caylor swam a provisional 7:25.15 time.
 
SWIMMING (SATURDAY)
The Hounds kicked off the final day of action in the pool with Emilia Colti-Dumitrescu notching a fifth-place finish and a B-cut in the 1,650 free at 17:10.03. For the men's squad, the distance event was won by UIndy's Stanislaw Chalat (15:31.87) with a B-cut time
 
Continuing the trend, the women's team swept the two fastest times in the 200 back with McCoy (1:57.32) and Krstevska (1:58.57) each corralling B-cuts. On the men's side of the event, Tiszai (1:46.17) and Swiderski (1:47.27) rode with B-cuts and the top times of any racer competing.
 
Caylor hit the pool in the 100 free and brought home the fastest time in meet history at 49.88 (B-cut). Vaselli (6th in A-final, 51.36) Andrea Paaske (top time in B-final, 51.22), Magierowska (third fastest time in B-final, 51.61), and Traustadottir (top time in D-final, 51.35) collected B-cuts in the race. For the men's team, Silva won the event at a B-cut time of 44.02. Antonon collected second at 44.16, earning a B-cut.
 
The 200 breast featured Balint notching seventh place in the race (2:21.52) while Simioni earned a B-cut as the top finisher in the B-final (2:19.06). The men saw Prema (new school record and winner at a B-cut time of 1:56.20), Zuchowicz (third and a B-cut at 1:59.13), Bohm (fourth with a B-cut at 1:59.64), and Bond (sixth at 2:01.17) roll out impressive performances for UIndy.
 
Van Jaarsveld won the 200 fly on the women's side with a new meet record of 1:59.74 (B-cut). Paola Yolanda C Wu was sixth in the race (B-cut at 2:04.25). Gomez corralled a quick time in the B-final as well for UIndy (B-cut, 2:00.70). For the men, Yorke managed a new meet record in his event victory (B-cut, 1:46.87) while Vanwanzeele (second with a B-cut, 1:47.63) put in a solid race for UIndy.
 
Finally, the 400 FR of Buys, Vaselli, Magierowska, and Caylor earned a second-place finish for the women's team at a provisional time of 3:21.81. For the men, the quartet of Silva, Mas, Swiderski, and Antonon claimed the top time and a provisional mark at 2:56.76.

"Incredibly impressive meet as a team on both sides. It's likely we gathered around 13 or 15 to qualify for nationals on both sides, which is the most we've ever had. I think we're excited about what we accomplished and we're looking forward to making more progress before the GLVC tournament and nationals."

UIndy will return to the pool for the Toyota US Open from Dec. 1-4 in Greensboro, N.C.
