INDIANAPOLIS – What was expected to be a great contest at the Ruth Lilly Fitness Center turned into yet another dominating performance for the No. 1-ranked University of Indianapolis swimming & diving teams. The most notable headline from this afternoon came when
Liki Prema swam a new school record and a B-standard in the men's 200 breast at 1:57.95, beating out the previous record held by TJ LeSeure in 2019 (1:58.25).
While both programs at UIndy hold the No. 1 ranking in the CSCAA preseason poll, McKendree entered this afternoon with its men's team at No. 4 and its women's squad at No. 24 in the same poll. However, the Hounds had no problem pulling together a convincing 195-95 win on the men's side and a 224-66 victory on the women's side.
HOW IT HAPPENED (WOMEN'S)
Beginning on the women's side,

HOW IT HAPPENED (MEN'S)
While Prema shined in his school record run, he also brought home a new second-fastest time in school history in the 100 breast at 53.59 (B-standard). He was just one of a handful of Greyhounds that performed at a high level against the Bearcats.
Cedric Buessing tallied another strong outing in the pool, corralling the top times in the 1,000 free (new fifth-fastest mark in school history and a B-standard at 9:14.76), 200 back (1:50.91), and 200 IM (New 10th-fastest time in school history and a B-standard of 1:50.60) to lead the Hounds. Close behind,
Cade Hammond swept the boards in the diving, bringing home the top marks in the 1-meter (334.95) and 3-meter (291.97).
Five different Greyhounds won at least one individual event on the afternoon. In the 100 back,
Jeron Thompson claimed first with his time of 49.27.
Joao Silva won the 50 free (20.67), while
Victor Antonon managed to touch the wall on top in the 100 free (45.73).
Kael Yorke was the top finisher in the 100 fly (49.21).
Much like the women's team, the men won both relays as well. The 200 MR (winners at 1:28.41) featured Thompson,
Jan Zuchowicz, Yorke, and Silva. In the 200 FR, Thompson,
Diego Mas, Antonon, and Silva managed to lead UIndy to victory at 1:20.94.
While Hammond dominated the diving this afternoon, UIndy had a strong overall presence in both the events. In the 1-meter,

Casey Crawford and
Joseph Donlin went fourth and fifth, respectively. Lenzo added runner-up finish in the 3-meter (281.86) while Crawford and Donlin went third and fifth, respectively.
HOUND BYTES
Final thoughts on the day from head coach Jason Hite…
"It's always good to have ranked teams come to our house and us still handle our business. I thought our relays looked great on both sides. Our divers also looked good. Overall it was a solid day for both teams"
