ST. LOUIS- Three Greyhounds earned bracket championships at the Kaufman/Brand Open Saturday, while another nine placed in their respective weight classes.
The three Greyhound champions were #10
Logan Bailey (149), #6
Jack Eiteljorge (165) and
Derek Blubaugh (197), with Blubaugh winning the event for the second time in his career.
Nathan Conley (157), #5
Andrew Sams (174),
Gleason Mappes (184),
Owen Butler (Amateur 174), and
Cale Gray (Amateur 285) all earned runner up finishes in their weight classes, while
Breyden Bailey was the third place finisher in the 141 bracket. The remainder of the Greyhound placers took sixth in their respective brackets:
Robert Gurley (Amateur 184),
Aidan Petersen (Amateur 197) and
Dennis Hubbard (Amateur 285).Â
Bailey (5-0) put up a pair of bonus point wins en route to the Elite 149 title, including a  32 second pin in the quarterfinals over Ethan Ewing of Central Missouri. The Cathedral HS product then bested a pair of GLVC foes, with a semifinal win over McKendree's Noah Villarreal, 10-4, and a finals win over Maryville's Tyler Stegall, 8-1.
Eiteljorge (4-0) only had to take to the mat twice to win the 165 bracket. The redshirt sophomore took a quarterfinal win over Gavin Smith of Campbellsville, 4-2, and then took a medical forfeit in the semis. In the bracket finale, Eiteljorge defeated Austin Morgan of Central Missouri, 8-3.Â
Blubaugh (5-0) posted three bonus point wins to win the Elite 197 bracket, starting his day with a fall in 4:14 over Caleb Guise of McKendree. He then teched Westminster's Montgomery Mills, 19-3, and posted a semifinal win in SV-1, 8-6, over Maryville's Chase Stegall. He then took the championship match with an 8-0 major over Tereus Henry of Fort Hays State.Â
UIndy will face a pair of NCAA Region 4 opponents in dual action next weekend, heading to Oklahoma for matches with Newman and host #4 Central Oklahoma Sunday afternoon.Â
