INDIANAPOLIS: A pair of Greyhounds are in the semifinals and another four are still alive in consolation action as #14 UIndy wrestling looks to day two of the 42nd Midwest Classic.
At 174, #6
Andrew Sams went 3-0 on the day to advance to the semifinals. Sams opened his day with a 14-1 major decision over Fort Hays State's Clint Herrick, and moved to the quarterfinals with a 5-3 win over Findlay's Hunter Reed. Sams will have a rematch of last season's regional final with Ashland's #3 Daniel Beemer in the bracket semifinals.
In his first Midwest Classic, #12
Derek Blubaugh also went 3-0 en route to his semifinal berth. Blubaugh started his day with a 15-0 tech fall in 5:02 over Logan Branham of Belmont Abbey. He then won 5-4 over Tereus Henry of Fort Hays to head to the quarterfinals, where he took a 6-4 win over Ashland's Walker Uhl to set up a semifinal match with Alderson Broaddus' Gino Sita Sunday morning.

Cale Gray at 285. As a team, the Greyhounds sit tied for 5th with 47 points. #1 Central Oklahoma leads the team race with 71.5 points, followed by #9 UW-Parkside in second with 57 points. Colorado Mesa is in third with 55.5 points, with #6 McKendree just ahead of the Hounds in fourth with 50.5 points.
