INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Indianapolis men's basketball team came back from break in fashion, posting an 88-62 win over Edinboro to extend their win streak to three. Cory Miller Jr. and Jesse Bingham both scored over 20 points to reach new season highs in the win.
The Fighting Scots averaged 82.9 points per game entering today but a stellar UIndy defense held them to their second lowest scoring output of the season. The non-conference victory moves the Hounds to 7-3 on the year while they pick up their sixth win at home.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first 15 minutes of play saw six lead changes as neither team was able to pull away. Josiah Tynes drove in for a lay up at the 4:50 mark to put the Hounds ahead 22-20 and they never trailed from there. UIndy closed out the final minute of the first half with a 9-0 run to take a 38-36 lead to the break. Jesse Bingham beat the buzzer with a corner three to cap off the run.
After making only three three's in the first half, the Hounds shot 7-of-11 from beyond the arc in the second frame en route to scoring 50 points, marking the most points they've scored in a single half this season. Miller Jr. scored 14 points in the second half alone while Bingham tallied 12 on a perfect 4-for-4 shooting from the floor.
