GREENSBORO, N.C.—The UIndy swimming & diving program stepped out of NCAA competition this weekend to race some of the world's best at the 2021 Toyota U.S. Open, held Wednesday through Saturday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C. Six Greyhound student-athletes competed in 12 different events, highlighted by A-final appearances by
Liki Prema and
Marizel van Jaarsveld.
Â
"This week at the U.S. Open has been a good step for our program competing against the best swimmers in the world," said Associate Head Coach
Brent Noble. "In most events, our swimmers swam against Tokyo medalists.
Â
"As we continue to grow and develop as a program, these are the kind of experiences and exposure we need. In addition to goals within the NCAA, many of our swimmers compete internationally and have aspirations to do this at a higher level, so they gained valuable experience this week. Our swimmers qualified for finals in every event they raced, so they clearly thrive at this level."
