ELKHART, Ind. – Sophomore
Mikaela Starr was named Co-Diver of the Year on Friday at the 2021 Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships, held this week at the Elkhart Health and Aquatics Center. After Starr posted a stellar total score of 432.05 on the women's 3-meter board, she won her first career conference gold medal and went on to share the GLVC's top women's diver award with Lindenwood's Elle Christie.
A year after sophomore
Jeron Thompson set the GLVC record in the 100 back, today he tied his own record in receiving the gold for the Hounds with a 47.11.
To start the day for UIndy, both sophomore
Christian Hedeen and junior
Sebastian Wenk earned spots on the podium, coming in second and third in the 500 free, respectively. Hedeen posted a time of 4.23.79, while Wenk went 4.25.77
Kaitlyn McCoy had another great day for the Hounds, posting a 53.95 in the 100 back. She was also part of the GLVC and UIndy record-breaking 800 free relay team, which also featured senior
Marizel van Jaarsveld, freshman
Brynhildur Traustadottir and senior
Krystal Caylor. The squad set the new GLVC record with a 7:23.06.
Van Jaarsveld also won the GLVC event title in the 200 fly with a 1:56.86.
After day three, the men trail Drury in second with a total score of 1100.5. The women's team stayed steady in third, trailing behind second-place Drury and first-place Lindenwood.

THURSDAY
Freshman
Landon Driggers posted a time of 3:48.38 in the 400 IM today, good enough to break his own program record and earn his second silver of the 2021 GLVC Championships.
Day two started with junior
Benjamin Rader earning the diving team their first gold of the championships, compiling a score of 515.90 in the 3-meter. He was followed by teammate sophomore
Jason Lenzo, who came in second with a score of 433.25.
A few hours later junior
Kaitlyn McCoy broke the team's 400 IM record with a 4:15.48, also earning a silver. She was followed by senior Marizel Van Jaarseveld, who came in third with a 4:15.87.

Anahi Schreuders took first in the 400 medley relay to end the day. During the relay McCoy put up such a split in her 100 back that it earned her another school record, with a time of 54.46.
Overall Drury edged the men's leaderboard today, taking the first-place spot while the Hounds sit close behind them in second. The women stayed in third, trailing just 50.5 points behind Lindenwood, who is second to Drury.

WEDNESDAY
The Greyhound men crushed a pair of program records to top the field after day one, while women's consistency positioned them in third place a quarter of the way through.
Sophomore
Diego Mas was the first to break a record. The Caracas, Venezuela native posted a time of 19.85 in the 50 free, a record previously broken earlier this season by redshirt junior
Gabriel Knaut. Mas placed fourth overall at the meet in the event.
Only a few hours later, the Hounds broke another of the school's best marks, this time in the 200 free relay. The team posted a time of 1:18.88 and placed second at the meet. Mas, Knaut, sophomore

Antonon and Thompson also were apart of the gold-winning 200 medley relay team, along with senior

Kael Yorke. The squad posted a time of 1:26.68, edging Drury in the close race by less than a second.
On the women's side, the Hounds placed third to end day one with a total of 507 points. Lindenwood (540.5) ended in first and Drury (524) settled in the No. 2 spot.

Leticia Vaselli all earned themselves a handful of silvers on the day. The three were joined by Masha Rezhilo on the second-place 200 medley relay team, as the team put up a time of 1:32.69. Another silver was earned by the 200 free relay team, compiled of Vaselli, Buys, freshman

Krystal Caylor. McCoy also took second in the 200 IM.
The diving also kicked off with the women's 1-meter event. Sophomore
Mikaela Starr was edged by the slimmest of margins, falling just 0.25 points shy of Lindenwood's Elle Christie.for the gold-medal spot.
