INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy men's basketball team (7-10, 7-10 GLVC) encountered a speed bump in Nicoson Hall Saturday afternoon, falling 88-80 to Southwest Baptist. The visiting Bearcats (12-5, 12-5) used a late flurry to pull away in what proved a tight second half.
Senior
Cory Miller Jr. paced the Hounds with 21 points.

INS & OUTS
Facing one of the top teams in the league, the Hounds orchestrated an early 12-0 run to take control. They led by as much as 13 in the first half before SBU slowly trimmed it to three at the break.
Â
The GLVC foes traded punches throughout the second half, but it was Southwest Baptist that delivered the decisive blow with a 13-1 run in the final minutes. The rally was sparked by a four-point play from SBU junior Quinn Nelson, which broke a 68-68 tie and vaulted the Bearcats ahead for good. Meanwhile, UIndy did not score a field goal for one fatal three-and-a-half minute stretch.

INSIDE THE BOX

- Overall, the Greyhounds hit just 5 of 27 shots from behind the arc, with the resulting percentage of .185 their lowest since the season opener.

HOUND BYTES
Head Coach Paul Corsaro on the difference down the stretch…
"We didn't defend as well as we needed to. They scored 61 points in the second half, and when we go away from our bench (to the other side of the court), we (the coaches) can't talk them through everything; they have to do it themselves. I don't think we communicated as well as we needed to."
