Greyhounds Sweep Mustangs, Advance at ITA Indoor

EDMOND, Okla. - It was an amazing start for the No. 4 Hounds in their return to the ITA DII Indoor Championship Friday as they took down 16th-ranked Midwestern State, 4-0. The Hounds walked in and took no losses in their quarterfinal wins. The three-day, eight team event is being held at Edmond Center Court in Edmond, Okla.

It started with another successful matchup for the Hounds in doubles as the pair of Sofia Sharonova and Maria Solnyshkina took the first victory in a smooth 6-1 set. Then for No. 1 doubles, the standout junior pair of Nikol Alekseeva and Anna Novikova took care of business, 6-2, to secure the doubles points. Seniors Alina Kislitskaya and Kristina Lagoda did not finish their match.

Mimicking their male counterparts from earlier in the day, the Hounds went unbeaten in singles action, with No. 5 Solynyshkina striking first with a convincing pair of 6-1 wins to take the first singles point.

She was followed by No. 1 Alekseeva. She remained undefeated in singles action, jumping out to a 6-0 first-set win before dropping only two games in the second set.

And to put the bow on the match, it was the Kislitskaya securing a victory in another straight-sets win 6-2, 6-4.
