OKLAHOMA CITY – The Greyhounds are bound for the ITA Team Indoor Championship final. With a 4-0 sweep of third-ranked West Florida, the men's tennis team is moving on to the finals match in their debut in the ITA Indoor, held this year at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center. Both Saturday's opponents entered the tournament undefeated, but it was the Hounds that walked away with their record intact.
In doubles, it all came down to sophomore
Nikolaj Talimaa and freshman
Pedro Franca in the No. 3 spot. The one-set match was close but the Hounds pulled out a 7-6 win to clinch the doubles point.
Finishing first in doubles was the pair sophomores
Tom Zeuch and
Jason Gerweck who fell 6-2 to their Argos opponents. And right after that, the senior pair of
Renato Lima and
Agustin Gascia secured their match, 7-6.
Singles was a repeat of Friday as the Hounds went undefeated through three matches to sweep the Argos. Kicking off the "Ws" was Lima, who won in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.
Then the Hounds continued to fire through with a win in the No. 4 singles spot by Talimaa, who came out with a 6-1, 6-2 win. And finally to secure the victory and move UIndy into the finals, it was Zeuch. He came in on all cylinders for the first set taking a 6-3 win. And that momentum continued to carry, as he struck down his Argos opponent 6-4.
Freshman
Yoann Viel, Gascia and Gerweck all did not get to finish their matches.
