10th-Ranked Greyhounds Walk Away With Two Convincing Wins Saturday

INDIANAPOLIS –  The UIndy men's tennis team wrapped up a busy day at the UIndy Tennis Center with a pair of victories. The Greyhounds first took a win off in-region Grand Valley State, 6-1, and later swept NAIA No. 20 Grace College, 7-0.

vs. GRAND VALLEY
The Hounds started the day with a matinee versus the Lakers of Grand Valley, kicking off their day with doubles action and taking all three sets in close matches. The pair of sophomores Tom Zeuch and Jason Gerweck took the first win of the day coming away with a confident win, 6-3. Freshman Yoann Viel and his partner Emilien Baradel came away with a 7-6 win in the second match, securing the doubles point. Finally, a close match by sophomore Nikolaj Talimaa senior Agustin Gascia also came down to a 7-6 win for the Hounds.

Singles play for the Hounds went nearly as smoothly, as they walked away with five wins in six matches, each in straight sets. The first match to wrap up was Taliman at No. 2 who, despite a tough doubles match, was able to take care of his singles opponent 6-1, 6-1. He was followed by Viel, who also won in straight sets 6-4, 6-1. No. 1 singles then concluded with Zeuch securing the W 7-5, 6-1.

Two more singles wins came for the Hounds, as Gascia came out on top 6-2, 6-3, followed by sophomore Dominik Koenig who won 6-4, 6-4. Grand Valley's lone victory came down to the wire with Lakers' Moren Lucas squeezing out a victory over Gerweck 6-4, 4-6, 10-7.

vs. GRACE
The Hounds then moved on to face the Grace College Lancers in the evening, a team they swept in an exhibition match last Thursday. The story remained the same for the Hounds, who  repeated the performance with another 7-0 win.

The doubles matches were quick and easy with the sophomores Talimaa and Koenig taking a 6-1 victory, followed by Zeuch and Gerweck who did the same Doubles play wrapped up for the night when Gascia and Pedro Franca earned a 6-4 win for good measure.

Singles provided a challenge for the Hounds, with a number of matches going to a third set. First, Barader garnered a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 4, followed by No. 1 singles Zeuch who took a 6-2, 6-4 win.

The first match taken to three sets featured Talimaa and Grace's Max Rozas, which saw Talimaa come out on top 6-2, 3-6, 6-1. Franca won a super tiebreaker 10-7, while Fascia was forced to three sets but pulled away with a  6-3, 5-7, 6-2 win.

To finally wrap up the doubleheader Saturday for the Hounds, sophomore Christain Morales secured the win and the sweep, winning 7-6, 6-4 at No. 5.
