WESTFIELD, Ind – The University of Indianapolis baseball team posted 13 hits in their second GLVC win over Missouri S&T today at Grand Park in Westfield. The Hounds split the series with the 7-4 win.
"We were able to really adjust and settle in," said Head Coach Al Ready. "Although the weather wasn't favorable for hitters, we played small ball and came out on top."
BIG INNINGS
The Hounds first struck fire in the top of the third. When the Hounds scored three unanswered runs off of four hits.
Despite S&T scoring one in the fourth, the Hounds continued to add to their score in the seventh by scoring two runs off of two hits, then secured their second GLVC win by adding another in the top of the ninth.
"We executed the bunt in the right way today," mentioned Ready.
Brandon DeWitt led the charge with four hits, and 1 RBI on five at bats. DeWitt also recorded the save for the Hounds.
Trey Smith and
Caleb Vaughn posted two hits each. Smith scored three runs and added an RBI, while Vaughn scored one.
Missouri S&T was led by Dakota Still who earned two hits on the day.
"Our bullpen did exactly what they've done nearly the whole season," added Ready. "and that's pitch well for us."
Senior
Michael Schalasky (1-0) took the win for UIndy, while David Kephart (1-1) took the loss for the Miners.
