#15 Greyhounds Bounce Back Against Davenport

INDIANAPOLIS - After suffering their first loss of the season a couple days before, the No. 15 UIndy men's lacrosse team (3-1, 3-1 GLVC) took down the Davenport Panthers (1-6, 1-6) in a rescheduled contest at Key Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. The Greyhounds were running on all cylinders on offense, the squad firing 60 shots total at the Panthers' goal for a 14-6 victory.

INS & OUTS
The Hounds were able to find the back of the net early and often, the team registering four unanswered goals within the game's first 10 minutes of action. Drew Billig had the hot stick to start, owning the first two goals during that timespan. After the first period, Andrew Simonich became the Greyhounds' front-runner on offense, slamming all four of his goals in the final three quarters of play. Simonich was the team's leader in points, adding six to his season total. The junior also included two assists in his stat-line on Wednesday, providing good looks for Brian Robb and Sam Arsten.

UIndy couldn't seen as much offense as they did without the help of their face-off men, the duo of Caleb Parker and Erick Stutz going 17-24 combined against the Panthers. Josh Jackson had one of his best performances on defense this season to hold down Davenport's attempts, causing a team-leading three turnovers and collecting five ground balls. The defense performed just as well as the offense, the Greyhounds allowing a season-low 24 shots at the net, only 16 of them being on-goal. Austin Barnett was the starting goalkeeper for the Hounds, collecting nine saves in the first three quarters of action for a 69-percent save percentage. Sam Ripple was able to get his first minutes of the season in the final quarter of play, recording a save of his own after facing three shots.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Hounds have registered 12 assists in each of their three home games at Key Stadium so far this season.
- Parker's seven ground balls helped lead UIndy to a season-high 42 ground balls against the Panthers.
- UIndy had four new student-athletes register at least their first point of the season in the contest against Davenport.

UP NEXT
The Greyhounds will only have a couple days of rest and preparation before they step onto Key Stadium once again, hosting a Saturday GLVC matchup with the Quincy Hawks. The Hounds and Hawks will kick off the first face off on March 20 at 1 p.m.
