INDIANAPOLIS - As rain peppered the UIndy Tennis Center, the UIndy women's tennis team would cruise to their seventh sweep of the season, this time over the visiting McKendree Bearcats.
Prior to the match, the Greyhounds honored seniors Alina Kislitskaya and Chloe Weihs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Doubles would go on to be a quick affair, with the Bearcats only taking six games off the Hounds across all three matchups. Junior Maria Solnyshkina and sophomore Sofia Sharonova would strike first with a commanding 6-0 win. They would be followed up by the No. 1 doubles team in the country, junior Nikol Alekseeva and junior Anna Novikova, who would win 6-2. Finally rounding out doubles was DII's third-ranked pair, Kristina Lagoda and Kislitskaya, who would wrap up 6-4.
Singles action would see the Hounds breeze through, not dropping more than four games in any single set. Kislitskaya in the No. 2 spot would finish first with a dominant first set performance 6-0 leading into a 6-4 second set win. Top-ranked Novikova would win 6-2, 6-0. Solynshkina would follow up with a pair of 6-2 sets to secure the match win. Junior Anna Valiaeva would then go on to win assertively in two 6-0 sets.
Sharonova would win her own match 6-1, 6-3. To close out the rainy afternoon, freshman Lorraine Lissmann would win 6-3, 6-4.
