Lagos Nets Seven Against Hawks

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After taking down Missouri Western on Friday, the No. 1 UIndy women's lacrosse team (9-0, 3-0 GLVC) stayed put in Missouri for a couple extra days to take the Rockhurst Hawks (4-4, 2-1 GLVC) on Sunday. Abigail Lagos had the hot stick for the Greyhounds in their 22-2 victory, the senior tied a career-high seven goals for seven points against the Hawks.

INS & OUTS
Both programs came out of the gates swinging, the first 10 minutes of action providing multiple goals for both the Hawks and the Hounds. The closest Rockhurst would make the contest was within two goals after racking a second score for a 4-2 game. From this point on, the Greyhounds rattled off 18-straight unanswered goals, nine finishing the first half of action and nine more in the back half of the game. Outside of Lagos, UIndy featured three other student-athletes with hat tricks in Peyton Romig, Grace Gunneson, and Sarah Klein. Lauryn Hardoy would be the Hounds' leading passer with three assists, while Romig, Christina Sato and Marin Felsoci each recorded a pair of their own assists.

Romig head the defense for the Greyhounds, backing up her record-setting performance on Friday with another 14-draw control game against Rockhurst. Cassidy King was perfect as UIndy's goal keper in the final 50 minutes of action, the final stat line for the junior recorded 10 saves from 18 Rockhurst shots. Caroline Wood shuffled the Hawks' offensive possessions on Sunday afternoon with a team-leading three caused turnovers, Erika Mayette also leading the team with three ground balls scooped in her stick.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Sunday's win marks the second time this season King has recorded 10 or more saves.
- The Hounds have now collected 20 or more draw controls in four games this season.
- Lagos' seven points follows up a season-high the senior set last week against Lewis (eight points).

HOUND BYTES
Head coach James Delaney on the Hounds' long weekend …

"We put a ton of emphasis on finishing the weekend strong on this trip. Down the road we have some big weekends [GLVCs, NCAAs] where we have to play two games in three days, and it's so important to finish those weekends strong just like we did today."

Cassidy King on the team's stellar defense this weekend …

"We knew we had to keep our head in the game the whole time and play our own game. Defensively, we ramped up communication after their first couple scores since that's what we were lacking at the time. Playing two games in three days, mixed in with travel, is the kind of adversity that we love to face."

UP NEXT
The Greyhounds will go back to the drawing board and make their final preparations for the last home game of the season on Sunday, taking on Lindenwood on April 11 at Key Stadium. The Senior Day match will kick off at around 2:30 p.m.
