Tennis wins again in Missouri road trip

ST. CHARLES, Mo - On the second game of their road trip to Missouri, the UIndy men's tennis team came out with another conference victory, this time over the Lindenwood Lions. The Hounds almost mirrored their sweep of Maryville yesterday but fell just short taking the win 6-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The No. 1 doubles pair of sophomore Tom Zeuch and freshman Yoann Viel carried over their success yesterday into today for doubles as they dominated their Lions opponents with a 6-1 win. Freshman Pedro Franca and sophomore Jason Gerweck wrapped up their match next with a win 6-4. The No. 2 doubles spot was competitive, with the pair of senior Renato Lima and junior Maximilian Witthaus fighting off the Lions' Juan Pablo Herrera and Juan Balbin in a match that saw a five point super tiebreaker win favor the Hounds as they won 7-6.

The Hounds came out firing in singles action with Viel continuing his very successful freshman campaign with a 6-1, 6-0 win. He was followed up by Gerweck who mirrored Viel with a 6-0, 6-1 win. To secure the match win Lima, in the No. 2 spot, won in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.

In the No. 1 slot Zeuch faced off with the Lions' Herrera in a close three set match. Zeuch took the first set 6-3 before dropping set two 4-6. The Hounds however have found much success in super tiebreakers and it would stay the same with Zeuch winning 10-7.

Sophomore Cristian Morales and Witthaus were the final two singles matches of the afternoon. Morales won 6-4, 6-0. Witthaus tried to recover from a rough first set and fight to the end but fell in a three set match 0-6, 6-4, 9-11.

UP NEXT
For their final regular season match before postseason play, the Hounds will stay on the road as they take on the Screaming Eagles of USI on April 23.
